Peter Daschner wurde am 10.12.2010 vor vielen Gästen als Leiter des Landesinstituts für Lehrerbildung und Schulentwicklung(LI) in den Ruhestand entlassen. In der Bucerius Law School waren viele Gäste versammelt, die wie er für die Fehlentwicklungen im Hamburger Schulwesen, in der Pädagogik u.a. verantwortlich sind:

die hohe Zahl der Schüler ohne Abschluss in Gesamtschule und Hauptschule
das Scheitern bei der Umsetzung von Reformpädagogik wegen mangelnder Berücksichtigung der Schulpraxis und ideologischer Enge
die verspätete empirische Wende in Hamburg
die partiell opportunistische Reformpolitik
die Reibungsverluste zweier paralleler Schulssysteme, Gesamtschule und dreigliedriges System,
Personalpolitik zu Gunsten von Freunden aus GEW-Vorstandszeiten
den ideologisch bedingt untauglichen Umgang mit fehlorientierten Schülern mit Migrationshintergrund in Problemstadtteilen
die langjährige Vertuschung der Lage secondary schools and many comprehensive schools
